In light of recent circumstances surrounding COVID-19, The Volkswagen Group of companies says it has extended the warranty period on Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche vehicles.

This extension has been applied worldwide and includes Jamaican customers with cars produced in Europe, Brazil, Mexico, and India. Customers are eligible for the extension once their current warranty has already expired or expired between March 1 and May 31, 2020.

“It’s absolutely brilliant that the Volkswagen Group would extend this courtesy free of cost to customers. We understand these are uncertain, trying times around the world and that customers can still benefit knowing that Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche are there for them with this extension. This is why we at ATL Automotive are proud to partner with the best automotive brands in the world,” a company release quotes Bruce DuQuesnay, after sales manager, ATL Automotive Group.

The Jamaican market, he said, will be adopting this principle and a new expiry date will be calculated from the end of the current warranty period. For example, if the new car or extended warranty on an Audi Q3 expired on March 20, the extension will apply for a further three months until June 20, 2020. However, it is important to note that this extension period ends no later than August 31, 2020.

“Though Jamaica has not been as heavily affected by COVID-19 as other countries across the world, and the doors at ATL Automotive remain open, our customers have not been overlooked and will still benefit in every way possible from this initiative,” the company stated.

The extended warranty is a one-time and voluntary goodwill measure that seeks to give back to customers worldwide, create customer enthusiasm, while ensuring that all customers of the Volkswagen Group of companies within the ATL Automotive Group will still have a premium experience and receive outstanding service during this time, the company added.

The warranty extension will be automatically implemented to give the most hassle-free process possible.

The company said that for Audi customers specifically, the mileage restriction on the extended warranty remains unchanged. If there is an overlap between the extension of the new car warranty and the start of the Audi extended warranty, the start of the extended warranty will be postponed for three months free of charge.

Porsche customers are also reminded that a new car warranty is always valid for a minimum of two years and starts on the day the customer receives their vehicle. There is also a minimum 12-month period for pre-owned models covered by the Porsche Approved Warranty.

“A claim can be made on the warranties at any of our Volkswagen-affiliated showrooms under the ATL Automotive Group. While this is a special offer for our customers in a time of great uncertainty, these measures do not imply that the ATL Automotive Group or The Volkswagen Group of companies are under any legal obligation to provide them if your vehicle does not qualify for extended warranty and do not imply the same in the future. The ATL Automotive Group will continue to work to serve customers better while providing this warranty extension and many more services,” the company said.
