Porsche’s Enlightening Perspective

June 19, 2020 / 0 Comments / 1182 / ATL News, Porsche

HOW do you make the best sport utility vehicle (SUV) better? You harness the power of electricity like Porsche has for its largest model, the Cayenne. The superiority of the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid is built on the pillars of performance, luxury and efficiency.

The Cayenne has completed the transition from its controversial initial styling to the belle of the ball in its recent third-generation upgrades, to the point where it’s passing down its design language to other Porsches in the line. The familial elements are there, but the Porsche manages to do something unique. The shape demarks it as understated and, at a distance, it blends into the sea of other SUVs. However, draw closer and those in the know, or more specifically those in elevated income brackets, will recognise it. It’s like people telling you: ‘nice watch!’, but that one person gives you the thumbs up because they know you’re rolling a Seamaster 300M on your wrist. Specific to the E-Hybrid is the acid green badging. That colour is applied to the massive brake callipers.

Porsche Macan – Auto Review

June 4, 2020 / 0 Comments / 1295 / ATL News, Auto Reviews, Porsche

Recently, I have been doing a lot of reviews on compact crossover SUVs due to the interest they have been receiving in our market. Size-wise, they fit into most spots around town, and because they are smaller than mid-size SUVs, they are usually more fuel-efficient.

A year ago, I reviewed the Porsche Cayenne, which was a monster on the road, as well as eye candy for commuters. The acceleration was instantaneous and aggressive, to the point where I felt offended whenever anyone overtook me. I remember being on the South Coast Highway and a pickup van passing me. I quickly returned the favour and stared him down, just as a gesture for him to remember his place.

Uncompromising Porsche Macan

March 26, 2020 / 0 Comments / 1023 / ATL News, Porsche

IN the adrenaline-filled finale of the 1996 Michael Bay blockbuster The Rock, Stanley Goodspeed played by Nicholas Cage saves himself by stabbing his own chest with a hypodermic needle to jump-start his heart. In this day of Hollywood remakes and reboots, a suggestion would be that this scene be redone with Goodspeed jumping in a 2019 Porsche Macan and driving off, as that act would provide a similar rush of adrenaline.

On the outside, the Porsche Macan is like a fine watch. To the common man from a distance, it looks like another nice-looking compact sport utility vehicle (SUV), but get closer and those with higher taste will quickly recognise the distinctive lines that mark it out as a Porsche — like the pronounced rear shoulder lines it shares with the iconic 911. Around back, the latest evolution of the Porsche logo and rear lights combine with enough fresh elements to discern itself as attractive, especially when purchased in one of the available dramatic metallic colours.

Porsche 718 Cayman S: The everyday sports car

January 16, 2020 / 0 Comments / 1821 / ATL News, Porsche

Balance is a significant element that is difficult to get right. That’s what makes the 2020 Porsche 718 Cayman S so special. It’s able to dole out the adrenalin-fuelled fun of a sports car and provide the practicality needed for everyday usage.

In 2016, the 718 moniker was added to the Cayman as homage to Porsche’s 718 RSK sports car of the 1950s. On the surface the visual familial lines are there, but those steeped in the brand’s lore can see the deeper connection with its namesake in the front and rear fenders. The shape is sleek and sexy, yet masculine and muscular. Sitting low on the 20-inch Carrera S wheels with their optional Satin Platinum paint, and with twin exhausts jutting out from the centre of the rear bumper, the Cayman is given an even more purposeful appearance. What is plain to see is that the Cayman is a two-seater, a concession to the sporty side of the balance box. You’re not going to mistake it for the latest crossover sport utility vehicle.

Porsche Cayenne: Belle of the Ball

August 15, 2019 / 0 Comments / 1337 / ATL News, Porsche

CAN a car be more than one thing? In the case of the 2019 Porsche Cayenne, it is. This sport utility vehicle (SUV) has plenty of sport, a lot of utility, and is one hell of a vehicle.

In three generations, the Cayenne has gone from ugly duckling to the belle of the ball, so much so that the other Porsche models are wearing its design language. It claims the swoopy curves and forward styling of its heritage. Around back, the rear lights form a single, thin, light strip that sweeps completely across the bodywork topped off by a 3D Porsche logo — a signature, now standard, on all current Porsches. On the high-gloss, black 21-inch Porsche Exclusive wheels, the Cayenne gains an aggressive performance stance.

It was cheers and applause for the 2020 Porsche 911 as it rolled off Knutsford Boulevard into the ATL Motorsports’s showroom for its launch on Wednesday.

“This is probably the most exciting car we’ve launched, and will launch anytime soon.
