(SEOUL) November 5, 2019 – Kia Motors has revealed its new Futuron Concept, an illuminating all-wheel drive SUV coupe which proposes new designs for future electric vehicles.
Kia has been steadily impressing me with how it packages their vehicles. Before now, there have been two standouts: the Sportage, which is an edgy and great-performing SUV; and the 2.2 litre diesel engine, which is one of the best-performing engines on our market and can be found in the Kia Carnival.
Now comes the Cerato, a compact car that Kia started to produce in 2003 to compete in the much smaller sedan market. I kept an open mind, knowing that all the craze these days is around SUVs and, sadly, sedans are left lacking.
WHEN the Volkswagen (VW) Amarok came out in 2010, the pickup market was experiencing a paradigm shift. No longer was the pickup a crude tool for commercial operation. The modern pickup had to be just as competent on the job site as it was off it, handling family duties and more personal endeavours with the expected refinement of a sedan or a sport utility vehicle.

Fresh off winning the International Pick-Up Award for 2018, the Volkswagen Amarok has been awarded another trophy, this time Pick-Up of the Year 2019 by United Kingdom monthly automobile magazine and website WhatCar?
Giving the vehicle a five-star rating, WhatCar? described the Volkswagen Amarok as a “brilliant pick-up that is great to drive and practical, with a well-built and comfortable interior”.

In three generations, the Cayenne has gone from ugly duckling to the belle of the ball, so much so that the other Porsche models are wearing its design language. It claims the swoopy curves and forward styling of its heritage. Around back, the rear lights form a single, thin, light strip that sweeps completely across the bodywork topped off by a 3D Porsche logo — a signature, now standard, on all current Porsches. On the high-gloss, black 21-inch Porsche Exclusive wheels, the Cayenne gains an aggressive performance stance.
It was another successful milestone for Audi at their Oxford Road showroom in Kingston with the launch of the 2019 Q3 subcompact sport utility vehicle last Friday, as all their order books sold out.
“We could not have imagined what we got tonight. In its best year we sold three to four Q3s a month. When the new Q3 was coming we ordered 20, thinking we’d have three or four months stock, and then what happened is that all 20 were sold out. We ordered another 10, those 10 are sold out. And we ordered another 10 and that’s the 10 we’re taking deposits for tonight. I’m not sure there are any left, as of this point we might be taking orders for cars that haven’t yet been built,” Damien Kerr, head of business Audi Jamaica, told the Jamaica Observer’s weekly Auto magazine.
As to why the 2019 Audi Q3 became a hot property, Kerr was clear.
The previous Tiguan was built on the Volkswagen B6 Passat chassis, which gave it car-like agility with the dimensions of a SUV. Now in its second generation, the Tiguan is looking bulkier as it rests on a bigger frame. Gone are the circular sheet metals, replaced by a more angular one, to give it an aggressive appearance, as well as a new design theme.
The character line, which runs through the side panels and is incorporated into the door handles, gives a distinctive visual appeal. Surprisingly, while bigger in dimension, it does weigh less than the previous generation. To complete the look, VW added beefier low-profile 19” tyres, with the ability to grip any road.
At least two fuel marketing companies have entered into discussions with Jamaica Public Service Company, JPS, to outfit their service stations with electric vehicle or EV charging stations.
The power utility is rolling out a national pilot programme for a network of EV charging stations within a 30-kilometre radius of each other by March 2020 in partnership with petroleum marketing companies and other businesses.
Total Jamaica told the Financial Gleaner that the company has been approached by JPS but has not yet signed off on an agreement. Still, the venture looks promising for the French-owned petroleum company.
